A story that begins in 1920
When architect Ildefons Cerdà designed the Eixample in the mid-19th century, he dreamed of a neighbourhood of octagonal blocks, wide avenues and chamfered corners that let the light through. What he perhaps didn't imagine is that on one of those corners, several decades later, an optician's would open that would become a neighbourhood landmark for over a hundred years.
Òptica Florit was founded in 1920, during the cultural effervescence of 1920s Barcelona. Back then, glasses were an almost artisanal object, made to measure and adjusted by hand. From the very beginning, the Florit family committed to quality and personalised service — a commitment that, a century later, remains the backbone of the practice.
Over 100 years in the same neighbourhood
The optician's opens in Barcelona's Eixample. Glasses are made by hand and optical fitting is entirely artisanal.
The practice grows with the second family generation. The first contact lenses are introduced and optometric services are expanded.
