Frequently asked questions
What is the Florit Care & Family Care plan?
Florit Care is the future of opticians. Always pioneers, we now offer a far more complete service than anything you've experienced before. For a monthly fee tailored to your needs, you get a free pair of glasses every year.
Our story — where does Òptica Florit come from?
To speak of Òptica Florit is to speak of more than a century of history. Founded in 1915 by Manel Florit when he opened the first shop on Carrer Petritxol, it marked the start of a legacy that continues today within the family. Five generations have now been part of Florit.
Thinking about contact lenses?
Contact lenses are a great option if you don't want to always wear glasses, though it's best not to wear them for longer than your specialist recommends. At Òptica Florit we're experts in contactology and we'll happily help you with your fitting. Take a look at our services and get in touch.
What is blue-light protection? What is it for?
Had a headache after a long day in front of the computer? Itchy eyes?
That's what BLP (Blue Light Protection) is for — it shields your eyes from the ultraviolet light emitted by screens. The benefits range from preventing those symptoms to improving sleep quality (blue light suppresses melatonin), though it's most useful for anyone who spends many hours in front of any kind of screen.
Which lens brands do we work with?
We only work with labs that meet our customers' quality expectations. Our chosen partners are: Indo (Spain), Rodenstock (Germany, makers of the market's finest anti-reflective coating), Zeiss (Germany, pioneers in optical research who also make camera and microscope lenses) and Essilor (France, inventors of the modern progressive lens and the global №1 in sales).
What is myopia?
Myopia is a condition where the eye focuses light in front of the retina rather than on it, making it harder to see things at a distance.
What is hyperopia?
Hyperopia (farsightedness), unlike myopia, is a condition where light focuses behind the retina. As a result, it's near vision that becomes blurry.
What is astigmatism?
Astigmatism is an irregular curvature of the cornea or lens, so light reaches the retina unevenly. It causes blurry vision regardless of whether you also have myopia or hyperopia.
When does presbyopia (tired eyes) appear? How do I know if I have it?
Presbyopia, or "tired eyes," usually starts around age 40–45. The symptoms are simple: it's harder to focus on close things (your phone, the newspaper, books, your children's drawings...). Even so, it's always best to see a professional for an accurate diagnosis.
What materials do we use in our frames?
Designed in Barcelona, we make our frames with acetate and stainless steel, ensuring excellent quality at a good price so you always get the best.
