lool EYEWEAR
Is it possible to reduce a pair of glasses to its bare minimum without losing its soul? LOOL's story is the search for a yes to that question. A journey from the complexity of the city towards the purity of the line.
In the heart of Barcelona, a city known for its vibrant creative chaos and modernist architecture, an idea was born that aimed at exactly the opposite: calm, precision and structure. LOOL Eyewear did not emerge as a fashion brand, but as an industrial design project with a clear mission: to challenge gravity and complexity.
The "Why": The Need for the Essential
LOOL was born as a creative "spin-off", an ideas lab inside an already established optical environment in Barcelona. Its founders noticed that the market was saturated with heavy frames, overloaded with decoration and logos.
They felt the need to go back to basics, to create an object that did its job with maximum efficiency and minimum intrusion on the wearer's face. The goal was not to add but to strip away until only the essential was left. They wanted to make glasses for architects, designers and urban minds who value function over trend.
The "How": Engineering of Lightness
LOOL's promise is a lightness that almost defies logic. How do you make a metal frame you can barely feel on your face? The answer isn't magic, it's precision engineering.
1. Sandvik 11R51 Steel
The secret starts with the material. LOOL uses a specific type of surgical-grade Swedish stainless steel. It is incredibly thin, flexible and strong at the same time. This allows the use of extremely thin metal sheets (often just 0.5mm) without compromising durability.
2. Laser Cutting and Bending
Each frame is laser cut from a single sheet of metal. There are no unnecessary welds. The shape is achieved through a meticulous industrial bending process, similar to metal origami, which gives volume to a two-dimensional structure.
The Screwless Revolution
In the pursuit of absolute minimalism, LOOL identified the weakest and most complex point of any traditional pair of glasses: the hinge and its screws. Screws come loose, get lost and add weight.
The solution was to remove them. LOOL developed "The Hub", a patented screwless hinge system. It is a piece of pure mechanical genius where the tension of the metal itself and a clever interlocking design let the temple fold smoothly. No maintenance, no extra parts. Just pure metal and intelligent design.
